About ImMusic

Empowering Youth Through Music

A European Collaboration for Skills Development

Our Story & Vision

ImMusic – Impulsive Music Activities to Promote Intercultural Relations is a European project that uses creative music-based methods to support youth skills development in community spaces. Funded through the Erasmus+ programme, ImMusic is a collaboration between musicians, youth workers, and educators who believe in the power of playful, accessible music activities to foster inclusion, creativity, and intercultural understanding.

Rather than focusing on formal music education, ImMusic offers a unique set of tools: music games, vocal and rhythm exercises, and co-creative activities that require no prior training. These are designed to strengthen core competences like cooperation, concentration, self-expression, coordination, and social awareness – all while having fun.

How It Started

The idea for ImMusic was born from earlier community music training experiences led by ImPulzus Creative Music Lab of the Hangkeltő Foundation, which discovered that impulsive musical activities had a surprising impact on soft skills and group cohesion – even among participants with no musical background.

The concept was further developed through the collaboration with the Foundation for Youth Awareness (Tudatos Ifjúságért Alapítvány). These two Hungarian organizations recognized the potential of combining youth work with music-based non-formal learning, and decided to co-design a project that could offer practical, inclusive tools for youth workers across Europe.

With the support of the Erasmus+ programme, the team expanded to include diverse partners from multiple countries – each bringing distinct strengths to the project.

A Diverse Partnership for Greater Impact

ImMusic thrives on its interdisciplinary and intercultural foundation. The partnership includes:

Hangkeltő Foundation (Hungary)

Project lead, with years of experience in music education and creative community work

Foundation for Youth Awareness (Hungary)

Experts in youth development, inclusion, and social impact programmes

World Music School Helsinki (Finland)

Pioneers in open-access music education and intercultural rhythm pedagogy

Coyote Initiatives CIC (UK)

Specialists in Erasmus+ mobilities and youth empowerment in alternative education

Microkosmos Association (Italy)

Bilingual cultural education experts with deep roots in language and identity-based learning

This blend of artistic, educational, and social approaches ensures that the ImMusic toolkits are both practically useful and culturally sensitive, grounded in real youth community needs.
